Assiut University, under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of the University, launched a program of periodic field tours to follow up on its colleges and institutes in the field of environmental practices and sustainability, within the framework of the university's plan to promote the concepts of sustainability, spread environmental awareness among its affiliates, and support the efforts of the colleges in developing their educational environment, under the supervision of Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the follow-up of Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Hamad, the General Coordinator of the Committee.
In this context, Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, explained during his meeting with the members of the "Environmental Practices and Sustainability" Committee, the controls and mechanisms of work in following up on the extent of the colleges' commitment to environmental practices and sustainability, pointing out that periodic follow-up is one of the main tasks entrusted to the committee, with the aim of ensuring the safety of infrastructure and the sustainability of environmental behaviors that achieve institutional sustainability.
Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Hamad, the General Coordinator of the Committee, pointed out that field visits were carried out that included the faculties of medicine, veterinary medicine, agriculture, dentistry, and the Institute of Molecular Biology, in order to follow up on the aspects of occupational safety and health in classrooms, administrative offices, cafeterias, toilets, stores, and skylights, in addition to caring for green spaces and waste recycling mechanisms.
Dr. Rehab Al-Dakhli, the committee's media coordinator, explained that one of the committee's tasks is to emphasize the modernization of media activities in the colleges in the community service and environmental development sector, as this has a positive impact on environmental and institutional sustainability, the sustainability of community activities and initiatives, and the promotion of positive environmental behaviors.
The visits began with an inspection tour by the Vice President of the University at the Faculty of Dentistry, and the visiting delegation included: Dr. Mohamed Thabet, Dr. Rehab Ahmed Zaki, Dr. Mohamed Sami, and Mr. Ayman Ahmed Shehata.
The visiting committee of the College of Veterinary Medicine included: Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Hamad, Dr. Sanaa Mohamed Zahran, Dr. Randa Youssef, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qadi, Ms. Nada Youssef, and Mr. Osama Al-Sayed.
The visiting committee of the Institute of Molecular Biology also included: Dr. Yara Ibrahim, Dr. Amal Mahmoud Ali, Dr. Jacqueline Emile, Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud Saleh, and Ms. Asma Alaa.
The delegation of the visiting committee to the Faculty of Medicine included: Dr. Mohamed Abdel Basit, Dr. Samar Al-Sheshtawi, Dr. Ahmed Nadi, and Mr. Mahmoud Abdel Rahim.
As for the delegation of the visiting committee to the Faculty of Agriculture, it included: Dr. Marianne Milad Mansour, Dr. Marwa Abdel Haq, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Rahman, and Dr. Afaf Merhi.
